Pretty sure paywalling scanlations is illegal. The only reason they're legal is because the scanlators don't profit from them. Paywalling them changes that. This is headed toward blowing up on everyone.
Eh, it's not inherently a problem at all.
The problem is more like an author's own psychological issues about wanting to feel like "an hero" by being "different from the rest". Doesn't speak well of them.
The only stories that I can think of off the top of my head that it makes natural sense...
Punishing people who try to murder you is not being an edgelord. It's basic fricking sense. Heck, I wouldn't even call that revenge. It's just plain flat-out fair and reasonable justice.

Yes, the support magic is good, but that is a small part of what he should...
"Hurr Durr! We kick out the guy WHO CAN CONTROL SAND into a DESERT. That'll teach him! Surely he'll die there and never amount to anything!"
"No wai! He became overpowered? How can he become so strong in a desert when his power is to control sand!?"
This premise is so stupid that it honestly...
And immediately the mangaka destroys the premise. His control of paper is completely irrelevant to his power. His power is his increased magic capacity. He could have basically ANY skill and be OP as a result, going by how much it enhanced his paper control skill purely by dumping more magic...
