Then you definitely need to read some more about the Asian slave trade, I mean... Thinking that cages or branding are only exclusive to the Atlantic slave trade is silly, in this fantasy stories we see a lot of cases of people that sold themselves into slavery for debt or fell into it simply...
Different culture... Japan was never a apart of the trans Atlantic slave trade so their view of the whole concept is different.
This is how I think it works... People used to be confused with Evangelion bad guys being called angels when the translation in context of the word shinto is more...
Or maybe because it's as common to fantasy tropes as elves or dwarves, etc... Also you could realize how slavery in general is clearly seen in a very different way on eastern culture than in western one, is much much less of a taboo since they never participated in the Atlantic slave trade
Just remember that on this Manga slavery is mostly a way for toru to share levels and power with his waifu, is more like a bond of loyalty than anything else mixed with a magical link
So you base all your argument in the Mangaka having to have read the entire web novel before even drawing the first chapter? Like... Seriously?
He got the first chapters, drew creola grinning and that was it, since you're putting so much effort on trying to be right... Go check then! maybe...
If were going over facial expressions you would need to find out if the mangaka was briefed about the whole story and the plot twists at the moment of drawing that chapter, otherwise your argument is flimsy as it falls into the "lost in adaptation" category.
Well... Yeah? Their whole story with the concept of slavery is different than in the west, it's obvious that their degree of taboo for some stuff would be different
Ok... Since I can't spoil this anymore, I'm gonna give a bit more of extra info, not even necessarily spoilers, first of... Differences between web novel and Manga (could be mainly the translation to blame but I think it's the editors)
That difference at least IMO was the intent of the...
Heh... I kinda like that the response to her reveal is mostly positive, novel readers have been spoiling this like for the last 10 chapters and the usual response was "I don't care she still a TRAITORRRRRRR!!!"
I really really don't understand many comments here.
Just so you know, the original story has many routes, most where the hero gains those powers, things end up horribly for the girls. only the route where things never happen ends right for them.
This is a different route, they're actually...
Honest
My honest opinion is simple, novel should have ended with vol 3, you would have had one volume for each heroine, all redemption requirements met and the story would've had a good conclusion, if the author wanted he could have even given fake Mc a full redemption arc and the last heroine...
But points 1 and 2 asume a smart and inquisitive population, not one dumbed down by monster threats hunger and probably the sword of a soldier the moment they gossip about the royal family.
Then point 3 requires the king to choose to keep this random knight he sent to die (they were honestly...
Guys... Those nipples were drawn for your viewing pleasure, not as a plot point... It's not that hard of a concept (pun intended)
Also adrenaline responses like fight or flight can harden some body parts... Like nipples, Google is your friend.
