EDIT: Oh wait, forgot that she gets to talk to the souls of the fish when she eats them. Nakajima will warn her of the path ahead if she continued and thus stop her.

Probably paternal, though I don't think we have direct confirmation of that. Gerbera's words of being born into a strict noble family implies "a different one than this one". Besides, the grandfather doesn't even seem strict.

I agree. While those against standardized learning, opting for street smarts, often bash the sheeple educational system and go on to prove themselves right, I'd argue they're often the exception than the rule.
