I know I'm replying to an old thread, but in Japan a cosplay cafe is generally not the same as a typical themed cafe you'd find in the west. While I can't say it's the same for every cafe, it's generally not as harmless as you might think. There's a reason why she gets paid a lot there.

Seems to be a pattern with chinese novel adaptations unfortunately. Even the amazing anime adaptation of Release That Witch had to be cut short because the animation studio wanted to keep the darker vibe of the novel but then the backer/funder (not sure what to call them) wanted the adaptation...

There's one that comes to mind and the mc is a guy who can read minds via physical contact. Not sure if we're thinking about the same series.
