Neat I guess but its my least favorite so far. Feels unfinished and like he came up with the fuck machine idea first while the horror part was an afterthought
I was originally pleasantly surprised by the honest conversations about homosexuality in some of the earlier chapters, but sadly it had to end like this
Much like with my scanlation of A Showa Era Woman, I'd be lying if I said this kind of stuff wasn't a bummer for me to translate at times as a...
Thank you so much for the copious amount of lesbian sex in this chapter Kamimura, really lightened my work load!
Toxic yuri and doomed tragic Yaoi in the same short story, hell yeah :glee:
I interpreted it as the daughter being her mother's resurrection since it takes place 10 years later and she's clearly much older than 10 years old
It'd be pretty hard to have sex with a mermaid considering the lack of genitalia, so I interpreted it as a collective hallucination of sleeping...
That's the first volume done! A massive undertaking but the fact they're short stories is certainly helping
The next volume has two 5-6 chapter long stories but it's mostly super short stories, I can't wait to get started on them <3
Oh yeah. From the looks of it, 13 Nights and an Edogawa Ranpo anthology seem to be his only straightforward horror stuff but he's seriously giving veteran horror mangakas a run for their money
That's the end of the second story! How did you enjoy it? I love birds and I found the body horror in this last chapter to be really effective, so I enjoyed it a ton!
You know, I've always liked J-Horror but I never went out of my way to watch Kaidan movies, but working on this manga actually...
Yeah, it's obvious some of these writers were real history nuts. Lady Snowblood (And to a lesser extant A Showa Era Woman) had these big walls of text from time to time just to explain the historical context. But this one sadly doesn't have that
For exemple, all the stuff about the sanzu river...
That's the first story done!
Onwards, I'd like to change how I translate. These stories are deeply rooted in a traditional japanese setting so there's a lot of terminology people may not be familiar with (I myself had to google stuff). So I'd like to add more translator's notes. Not for basic...
Hmm, I'm sorry but I don't think I'll ever get to Revival Arc because it's not available in my native language, I'm sorry. I might get around to more Kamimura, Shimano River and Divorce Club especially seem interesting to me, but Revival Arc is sadly not in my plans :(
Both writers being little known, the movie no longer being relevant and of course structural issues in the english publishing industry towards #1: older manga and #2: Shoujo
