You sound like I'm pulling stuff out of my ass but I'm only talking about proven cases, manga/anime/LN translations have been butchered censored and AI translated constantly, everything documented enough to make me think fans should gatekeep harder and not give the companies an inch.

The only good point here is about not knowing what the honorifics means and that's exactly the point "professional" translators use and abuse to justify their "work" quality, I haven't found a single reader that doesn't know or infer what the honorifics mean, can understand that a person living...

Using your example -dono or -sama indicates a different level of respect and submission, it also matters because many characters use a different tone/honorifics when speaking with other characters and there are lots of subtle hints hidden in honorifics.

Like western authors don't include inaccuracies in their stories.... please don't start butchering translations like official works do. I tend to consider official translations the death of a series.
