I get the trope but it gets irritating when an mc has other plans from something but gets shut out for plot conveniences. its like when a character says something that's not supposed to be said yet and the words they say get filtered out as if they did not exist.
wait a min so she's talking about her hard work being down the drain now but was quick to put an end to someone else's hard work which involves risking one's life on a daily basis.
