Honestly that kind of info should be said earlier. The problem with a lot of dangerous jobs is that the people working them often don't really understand just how dangerous the job is until it's too late.
By telling the kids the survival rate at the start, it should make them more keen to try...
Now I'm really interested in the backstory of how Taya's new parents met.
The dad seemed to have a lot of hatred against humans (makes sense, seeing as what kind of yokai he seems to be) but he apparently married a human woman.
I'm assuming this happened like years before Taya met her husband. Would be interesting though to see how the yuki-onna got past her trauma and became a waitress later.
Even old series like Digimon had their protagonists have the goal of going back home.
Current isekai having the protags instantly forget/don't care about their old lives and connections is very telling about current society.
Callback to the second chapter, wow.
So this girl was the source of all the "shadows" and actually unwittingly killed a bunch of people? And she was a ghost herself?
Bloodline curses are a very popular theme in Japanese horror stories. That being said, I really have to wonder if the family really was able to just bounce back like it was nothing after that incident. You would think that they'd do more than just get amulets.
So what's interesting is apparently the stuff written on the back wasn't in our MC's imagination, it actually was true. But it seemingly changes for people seeing it? And makes them float/disappear? Interesting.
