He's met her twice, and as far as he knows, she's probably only an errand girl for someone else. He seems to be just a genuine guy who happens to own the apothecary shop (he gives the vibe of someone who does it more for the sake of the people who need it than the profit).

If someone ever make an anime of this, this chapter would be one that they should't skip any scene at all.
