From the WN chapter release dates it doesn't seem likely as they're so close to each other. I think it's more of a plot twist/cliffhanger for the end of the Volume 2 (Volume 8 for the manga) to attract readers for the next book.. whether it worked or not is up for debate 🙈 Or maybe the author...
