Which is why he's dual-wielding. The cursed sword is just a back-up.
For all we know the sword's what killed game-Harold after he used it to fight with the hero party twice.
Fun fact: the manga accidentally has Harold dual-wielding in chapter 1, which is a Kazuki/Harold thing. They corrected...
I mean,
Plus game-Harold also takes over from time to time, voicing out Kazuki's thoughts through the Harold filter
At the end of the day, the filter doesn't affect what he's trying to achieve so I guess Kazuki just didn't bother wasting time to deal with it..
TBF he used it sparingly here, and also the reason why he's dual-wielding. For all we know the sword's what killed game-Harold after he used it to fight with the hero party twice.
Fun fact: the manga accidentally has Harold dual-wielding in chapter 1, but corrected to only using one sword in...
It's the same with the manga volume too, it was the final chapter of Volume 8. Back then the web novel also had a consistent release schedule.
And they did move some flashbacks into "chronological order", the prison meeting with Justus and court room scenes after were both flashbacks after the...
To show that his friends weren't sitting around doing nothing I guess
Also some reactions from the others, and most importantly,

From the WN chapter release dates it doesn't seem likely as they're so close to each other. I think it's more of a plot twist/cliffhanger for the end of the Volume 2 (Volume 8 for the manga) to attract readers for the next book.. whether it worked or not is up for debate 🙈
Or maybe the author...
Don't worry, the web novel updates have been fairly frequent* lately, latest chapter was in January!
Author also wrapped up Volume 5, which took 6 years..!
* By DF standards LOL... we had 2 chapters a year back then..
Yeah the novel did it a little differently, the time skip happened immediately after Harold was given the surprise death sentence.. Similar to the novel chapter it adapted (there's a novel epilogue but shhhh), they are the final chapters of the volume so they probably needed some...
I mean, technically they tried... In the novel the time skip happened right after the death sentence
Meeting with Justus at the jail and some stuffs after were flashbacks after the time-skip..
Heck, the flashback to the meeting with Justus at the jail is actually from the next arc (WN Vol. 3...
I don't know where you got that impression of Harold/Kazuki.. feels like your head canon
I get don't liking the direction of the story however, me neither (for the next two arc at least).. 🤷♂️
@Imryse "Completely out of character?" Uhh no, he wants to survive through any means necessary and find a way back to Earth. Why would he throw his life away for such trivial matters.. You might have mistaken this series for another one due to the long wait since last English translation...
