NikukaiQ-sensei has confirmed. They are soft.

I wonder if the parallel Nano had a Rentarou, too. If she did, I could see one possibility that would lead her to becoming even more robotic than she's ever been and could explain why she actually wants to find a more advanced world... Also, Rentarou proving once again that his love is stronger...

How appropriate that they chose this chapter to be a couple of stinkers.

He appeared in chapter 101 and it seems to be implied that they occasionally meet for discussions and training.

I do wonder how far they'll make it. I can't imagine it'll be a chapter an episode so we'll probably get a few dozen in. I could see them aiming for Chapter 56 as the final episode since Chapter 57 is the start of "Part 2."
