Think it is more that the girls natural curiosity is finally being nurtured, rather than it being something which is seen as a defect (by her mother, to the point that it causes the mother to do extreme things in hatred) and which alienates her from her peers

Looked into it earlier today, apparently it remakes this story (maybe as the first chapter), but continues onwards and tells more stories about this grandmother & her grandchild. I'd maybe consider doing it if I got my hands on the raws for the whole volume & had the opportunity to read it.
