I hope in the future we get more flashbacks to the MC's past. If I remember correctly, he's not a conscript but joined the military voluntary after hearing about the original Iris Conrads story. I kind of want to see that moment of inspiration and decision.
Are you saying the original author has finally continued the story or are you talking about the fanfiction sequel that people often confuse for being official? because that might the reason your original comment was deleted.

With how big of a goal the MC has and the fact that the Bugs won't show up for like 6 or more centuries, I was kinda hoping we would have gotten a generational epic like JoJos Bizarre Adventure. With a new MC from the same family per part and generation.
