Felt this many chapters ago but, it feels like there's just no direction for this story. It just completed the op MC checklistaan story points, and right now just Ad-libbing or going through the motions

He's gonna get someone killed most probably himself eventually. Unless by some plot armor or ex machina (which obviously will be the case). Hate these characters, that are just plain dumb and stupid for narrative.
It's respectable work. Everyone fears death, and being close to people who deal with makes them scared of what'll happen to them eventually. Especially for religious and superstitious. (I volunteered in a morgue and cemetery once, there's a stigma to it)
