More like mind control. I feel like it’s done that before—influencing the feeling and behaviors of the people around him. I think it happened during the snake operation where everybody started to listening to his commands.
I’m glad she called it out. The self-deprecating mindset that ignores the person who’s spending time with you but accepting rumors from outsiders is really disrespectful of the person who chose to spend their time with you.

It’s interesting how they depicted Claude in the past as someone who makes kids cry. When the kid bumped into him, he had a scary look in his eyes. It makes me wonder if the hero team would’ve been more villainous than heroic if it wasn’t for Cross.
