I watched a (rather dull) anime about high school kids playing karuta. I have no idea what this chapter is about.

After the previous chapter had me thinking this manga has gone off the rails, done a U turn, gone up six stories and jumped off, I only skimmed this chapter to confirm it was along the same lines. Can someone please let me know when we get back to the core story again?

Sorry if this has been addressed later in the comments. Chapter 19 cemented it in the '70s for me where they meet up in daylight for the row boat date. Wallah on page 2 is wearing a cravat and has long sideburns, the woman next to him is wearing a dress of that era and Yukino is wearing flared...

Me too, I see Fuuka and immediately think about her and Yotsubas dad. Fuuka is under utilised in this manga.

Any idea why, on page two, they all do the 'Vulcan wave'? This could be related to something that several mangakas have taken to drawing - when a character waves, their 3rd and 4th fingers are grafted together. WTF? Try it - it isn't natural! ps: volume 8 has been available on Raku for a while...

Not seen since ch 289 and referred to as Ichijou-san then, it took a bit of figuring out that this Kaho IS Ichijou and now Hisao' s new wife (when?) and he has not remarried his 1st wife. That would have made his 1st wife 12 years old and 17 years younger than him when she had Rui (!) Which made...
