But it's true that in Japanese there is a difference between like (Suki / daisuki) and love (aishiteru).
I honestly prefer them to use "I like you" or "I really really like you" at the start then "I love you" at the proposal. Feels silly to use "I love you" when it's still a crush.
I guess it's nice to see the classmates getting fleshed out and how Hareta is actually a likable guy. Yes, the girls like him already but his kindness makes them like him even more.
And it's not just a story about one guy chasing another and the girls getting jealous and petty unreasonably.
