Damn, even though I like the manga, this makes me feel like the adapters either had a different vision for the manga (i.e. a more light-hearted and less intensive story, which is fair enough), or they did a shoddy and lazy job. Pity that we don't get this more well-rounded story, but I guess...

This definitely isn't happening at all: it's almost certainly a Hope Spot (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HopeSpot). 1% of me holds true hope for her future, and the other 99% just knows that this hope will be crushed next chapter. Damn you, author!!!

I think they were trying to bait out the 'dark presence' from Bell by acting unsupportive and triggering the 'dark thoughts'. However, I just don't think this was the best way at all, and it really could've been done in a few other ways without pushing buttons.

Just like how the Aiterians are unfamiliar with the Japanese dish terms, but learn them, so too are the Taisho and Shinobu unfamiliar with Aiterian terms, and even though Aiterian has its German equivalent (and is thus probably translated into the Japanese term for a Schnitzel), it's reasonable...

Just assume that any Japanese words that don't have a good English or European equivalent (e.g. 'sushi') are transliterated the way they sound (and into the corresponding language), while any Japanese words that do have good equivalents are auto-translated into the language of another world...

It's character development: she wants to change (I don't think she likes being so reclusive or afraid of others honestly). While she might still love numbers and worship them with all her heart (or use them as a coping mechanism), she might want to take on other electives to make friends...
