The individual volumes might be expensive but there are copies of the Viz release available online, legal or not legal. There's really no reason to retranslate the full thing. I appreciate your enthusiasm but your time might be better spent elsewhere rather than duplicating 20 year old work

Pretty sure there's not meant to be any subtlety to them, this is going to straight up be the Iliad retold as a Yakuza crime story, in vein of other modern retellings such as Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+Juilet but probably not as 'accurate' or bombast
