Last time I checked, a grandchild has two sets of grand parents. This grandmother might be her mothers mother, not her fathers mother. So the father might not know either.
I got to agree, for a wind spirit, she is a little deflated in that area considering how she started.
Maybe she uses them for storage for when she is in need of a little extra breeze, and she hasn't refilled the tanks for a while?
It isn't pointless from the story perspective. They want to break her will so they can use her magic affinity and turn her into a weapon against her own kingdom.
1. Puppet master wyvern rider --very dead.
2. Wyvern either dead or badly hurt.
3. Assuming badly hurt, it is going to be very, very angry.
4. And the only ones to take its rage out on that are nearby are the prince and his followers.
No real need. There is a perfectly good Wyvern who would probably be more than willing to dispose of his current rider if Alti interfered with his riders control for a moment or two.
Heat + water in a confined space can make pressurized steam.
That can be used to turn wheels and gears.
What we have with this little water heater is possibly the first step to building a steam engine in the future.
Combine that with a propeller and your ships no longer need to rely on wind...
This is giving off a "I think your knight is really a missing prince / child of a high ranking nobleman, but I wanted to let you know in private." vibe.
If I remember correctly, one of the earlier chapters Van himself notes that being in a child's body is affecting the way he thinks and acts, so you are right in your view of what is happening to him.
I think the original story played through as written the first time.
Then somehow the original Edith's spirit gained enough access to the system to summon the author in to become Reeze because she wanted her to see what she had done by making the original Edith's back story and fate so terrible...
The author replaced her and lived her story.
But once she married Cliff, the story reset and it started again and again until I think it drove her a little more crazy.
She tried to break the story herself at first, but gave up when it kept getting put back on the same path.
About then is when...
