An incredible series every time I read it. Some of the author's musing on the nature of responsibility in wartime doesn't sit right with me, but then again, it's war. I only wish the novels would get translated to see where else it goes after this.

The protagonist's flailing incompetence is really getting on my nerves. Presenting characters that know as much as the audience does about a setting never makes sense because they've been living in the setting their whole lives! Get your act together buddy.
