My interpretation:
Akira (hero) picked up the child and took her(?) to the village in the hopes that the villagers will give information.
(pg.9) Akira was asked to defeat the dragon, presumably by the child (pg.25/30).
Villagers have made a trade deal of sorts with the dragon and they sent...
Imagine not questioning the messenger beacuse "he isn't someone from Vandenberg and he has no motive."
Seems more of a writing problem to continue the plot.
I'm guessing skills might have a proficiency level, the more he uses a spell the higher level it will become and its damage will increase regardless of his curse.
"I'll just run with everything I've got if I get hit even once"
If he gets hit once; especially by that bear or boar, he'll probably die with only 1 point in defence and with Lv1 hp.
50 evasion (which is very high), but one slip up and his 1 def and lv1 hp stat will mean his death, can't heal himself if he is one shot dead.
If that slime creates a miracle and hits him with a crit who knows if he will live.
Why doesn't he just keep upgrading the same drop item from outside the dungeon.
Carrot turns into slime and drops bullets, bullets turn into slime/monster and drops higher rank item, then keep recycling as long as he can defeat the monster.
They're both bad, he could just be more blunt and forward about the situation and his feelings instead of running away and avoiding execution has been on her mind for so long that she probably hasn't thought about much else.
