What a bungled ending that was.

Per the author's afterword:

Chapter 37 is only half the chapter. Everything after Saito eats the wasabi-chili snack is missing. That's why it's noticeably shorter than what came before and after.

@_Curmudgeon Yep, that was it. Totally forgot I had that set, but it seems like it really fucks with color images.

Why are the images so compressed? The Pixiv has higher quality images.

@konzolmester: If you want to read ahead, the LN has been licensed and 4 volumes have been released. The manga so far only covers up to the end of volume 1.

I'm pretty sure this chapter is entirely original to the manga, just like how the last chapter was mostly new content. Seems like the author has pivoted to writing for the manga rather than continuing the LN, which is understandable considering how long ago updates stopped for the series.

This is actually one of those rare adaptations that's much better than the original LN. The pacing is way better than the LN thanks to redundant conversations and cliches being cut. Supporting characters also develop much quicker and better than in the LN because they get more dialogue and...

I read this so long ago but the anime misses way too much.

@calmbreez It's rushed in the manga adaptation but I enjoy it in the light novels. For example, they skipped over Uracca's attempted seduction of Bard in San Juan, Selina's first encounter with him, Seyruun being teased by others for being in the perfect position to become Bard's mistress, etc...

I only got interested in this because of the harem, but the writing, especially the edgy chuuni lines Hajime starts spouting, really make this unreadable.

Great reference to Berserk this chapter.

Reading this series is like watching a trainwreck in slowmotion, only what we're seeing the drop in typesetting and cleaning standards.

@CardiBslays It's just frustrating seeing only one girl get development with the MC when it's ostensibly a harem.

This last chapter just made me drop this.
