Personally I hope the little sister appears, gets entitled enough to piss off the MC to send her head back flying towards the kingdom, finishes the barrier and the kingdom cannot retaliate due to being unable to find them. That would be my ideal 🤪

I'd say this point makes it even worse because she's not directly trying, most people including me find this extremely unsatisfying.
What I mean by "trying" is showing the mom's POV, like maybe, as she said, she was so damn awkward that her internal monologue when trying to interact with her...
Oh yeah, this is bad. If the roles are reversed where the father is the distant one with a dying mother, we'd get a more vengeful reaction. This? This is just way too forced.
In my opinion, this would be written better if this was over a few chapters, add some tid bits that maybe the mother...
