Well the story does have multiple instances of the characters misinterpreting the meanings behind the drawings, so it kinda recognises the shortcomings of this too. It's one of the things I like about it, the way it shows that sometimes the armchair interpretation can be way off base from the truth

I think you might have taken what I said too far. The unnamed protagonist does do the interviews and calls and stuff, what I mean is more that they don't really have much of a personality or meaningful characterisation (at least in Strange Houses, idk about Strange Buildings i.e. Vol 6 onwards)...
