I don't think she actually has any control over this situation. She is just lying to MC to make him believe this is her doing. In reality, she is probably in a terrible situation and she can't speak out for various reasons (purity, popularity, family well-being, etc.).

I agree. But this one seems interesting. While we do have the cliche love interest being a main role, the MC being a director is definitely different. Like they are heavily involved, but more involved in the shadows kind of thing. Active with their love interest, but not in a forced awkward kind...

I agree with this sentiment. It would be a lot better for the story for them to progress their friendship forward into a naturally romantic one. And during that time period, they both help each other out in overcoming their own internal demons. I mean, at the end of the day we need to remember...
