Is this a yokai? I remember a Junji Itou story with a pretty similar creature. That one where a woman married a man where the patriarch "lives forever" by grafting their scalp to their descendant's head.
There's something so charming about a manga that feels like it was partially written by a city's tourist board. That's not even sarcasm by the way. It's a sweet little glimpse of what the author loves about their town.
Another sweet chapter with another trope that I like. Mrs. Tachinaba's father really wants what's best for her though he probably thinks of only the material things. He was still pretty easily swayed by such a grand gesture and even treated the children.
