at the end of ch 27, we see a panel of someone whispering “they’ve taken the bait” to kelaira, possibly indicating she knew even then that sayi was in the north. we haven’t seen eliott in a while, and we knew kelaira was suspicious of him and even mentioned that a maid had disappeared to bait...

I also really felt the same after the tone ch1 set, but I guess the author wants to make this an ensemble cast journey rather than a protag-focused psychological story :’) although.. given that the beginning arc is this smooth, I foresee big conflicts in the future.

I would have to disagree that the "story" is bad because we don't even know what the story will be like yet. :') We only get introduced to our main characters in this chapter. Perhaps if you read more carefully, you'll see that there are many interesting details being set up in the first...

Yeah, I’m thinking she must have come up with an excuse to join him and we just didn’t get to see it yet, because otherwise she won’t even survive another chapter before the bracelet activates or Kelaira goes on a manhunt.. 😭

I feel like even if such a level of sophisticated magic was possible, she’d be too busy to watch the “surveillance footage” all the time, since she has to manage an empire, and she def wouldn’t trust someone else to watch it haha 🥹

exactly!! one of the many reasons I love this series and Sayi 🥹 I have tremendous respect for her grit despite bearing such a huge burden (potentially letting the world fall into abject misery again), and she’s definitely haunted by her many traumas of the past, yet she knows the way forward is...

hahaha, I was wondering the same. I assume their deal went back to the chapter when Padie began helping deliver messages between her and Karlen. There’s a lot of dialogue we’re not being shown.
