I find the "warning" more problematic than the chapter itself, although it was made with good intentions. For 99% of people, even queer people, its better to ask (specially when its clear theres real confusion) than to consider them "androgynous" by default. I dont see the characters identifying...
The MC is an ex mercenary so I'm surprised learning the "pope" was willing to betray his ally wasn't a bigger deal. Wouldn't that be the number one taboo for mercenaries? You can't be working for someone who has a reputation of fucking over people they got help from.
