The least you expect to happen in this kind of story. But it's much lighter here in the manhua compared to the novel maybe because of the censorship in manhuas and there's no inner monologue here.

In my understanding, the consciousness of the "present" and "past" evie switched places so technically the "past" evie is the one in chapter one. She never met the "past" elsa because the "present" evie interfered.
