Character design and sense of scale in this is absolutely stellar. Hoping the rest of the 1st volume get translated.

Just went back to check youre right. He hadn’t developed his Hiruko sense with Hitori (he only discovered she was a Hiruko after touching her) but did with Jugo(which is the 1st time he uses Hiruko sense). So I guess it isn’t a Hiruko/Hiruko offspring then robot theory is still on board.

My memories of the earlier chapters are a bit hazy but was Miina ever shown to be able to control other robots? I thought the takahara facilities and thier computer networks was the extent of her reach. Now that I think about it Maru can’t detect children of Hiruko either so it could be that too.

My theory is that’s it a robot gone rogue. Maru can’t detect it so we know it isn’t a Hiruko. It’s strong enough to throw rocks at the speed of a bullet and dodge the kiru beam before being fired which all seem like things impossible for a human to do.
