No that Prince is shit. Twisted person and awful story. Yea if she was essentially brainwashed since birth to be his wife as her life's purpose then fine. She can be happy with such a sick person, but I don't think this fits right with the genre then. Unless I misunderstood what this anthology...

At a guess, based on the story's progression, he was needed for his ability to pass on genetics. Must've been a huge difference in gender population or the human? Gene was dying out in that world
