It's not that complicated. Yayoi was giving her an easy way to consent. Eyes closed = consent.
But "close your eyes if you want to" made it imply, at least to me, something like "feel free to close your eyes but I'm doing it anyway"?
I was so confused with what Yayoi meant with "you can close your eyes if you want to" on page 24. Finally checked the raws and it turns out it meant "close your eyes if it's not a no".
The author can't think outside their own culture. It’s highly unlikely a pom would ever say what Charlotte said on page 13 even if she was fluent in Japanese. The only excuse would be that she was just saying it to blend in with Japanese culture.
Just want to add that BPD
means Borderline Personality Disorder for anybody reading who isn't clued in to psychology.
I hope you got something off your chest by writing this. Dating anybody with a personality disorder can be traumatic and often life altering.
I completely forgot this existed for years haha. I don't think I'm a fan of Mikami Teren's works in general. Most of the stuff she(?) writes is a bit messed up. Abusive relationships and borderline non consent/pushing boundaries are already quite common in real life relationships; that includes...
I'm fully aware and am not contesting that. Doesn't mean there can't be a double entendre there especially when you take into account the surrounding pages. I was really just using these parts to explain p21.
Huh, that's weird. I don't get the same AI example. Google shows me that it's done as...
Read page 16 and 17 again. While one reading of 悪い案ではないと思った can be what you and Oddman11 translated as "That wasn't a bad idea. I thought."
悪い案 actually has another meaning, and that is 悪意のある企み. That's how I interpreted it when I first read it. That Nagi thought what she proposed wasn't...
Can I just say that even back when Sun Yat-sen proposed to Kaoru when she was 13, her dad was still like "no, she's too young". That was at the turn of the 20th century. So this has been creepy in Japan for a while now laws or not.
With p20, the text in the recollection is slightly blurred/thinned compared to the box on the bottom which is bold. So we know that isn't a continuation of the thunderstorm scene.
Edit: It's still hard to be certain considering there are no thought bubbles elsewhere in that section.
I did also...
Most of the translation is okay. But I'd like to suggest some changes to the last panel of p20 and all of p21 except the last box on the left. I spent 2 weeks trawling Japanese literature and trying to get it sounding right in English.
This is closer to what Nagi was trying to say:
"What am I...
SSRIs and benzos don't do anything for borderline personality disorder though. That's the closest label that matches Noa's behaviour so far. Everybody I have met who has borderline has scared the sh*t out of me.
Thanks for the heads up! Chinese (even though it's technically a group of languages) happens to be my first language so I'll find a copy on Taobao or something. ;)
