If the forest is using the undead to kill humans and get their brethren back, then bravo. If not, then this did an excellent job of showing that part of being an adventurer is reacting and doing things when you have no idea what the **** is going on or who is behind anything.
Looking forward to reading this story now that it got to season 2. Unlike most stories that feature protagonists becoming overpowered, this one feels more grounded. He continually works out and needs to show extreme effort for the entirety of the story(or at least as far as I got so far).

Even non-novel readers might notice the pacing is too fast in the manga. Nevertheless, this story is amazing. If you are trying to find a good story to read, I highly recommend it.
For an axed ending it is surprisingly sweet. The jump forward also makes sense to a point. Years go by instantly to her, so having a few decades pass is understandable if a little forced.
