Indeed. Tomitsuka looked quite shocked. I was glad to see the author return to Shippou acting in character again. His duel with Tomitsuka should've ended with those final panels.

He can get annoyed, but never burst into rage.

That's why back in the chapter this detail was introduced he said he didn't 'hate' his mother for doing this to him.
He wasn't lying, because his emotion would never reach that level.

A huge part of his "emotion-less minus Miyuki" seems to be gaslighting than actual lesser emotions....

And he did have military and emotion control training as a child....

So he has more emotions than he himself thinks...

Like, you can hate him, but you hate him as a being, not as a character... his existence doesn't ruin the story for you...

Iirc later on Tats mentions that he is sexually attracted to Mayumi, and she'd be a perfect bang as far as magician genes go, but alas, Miyuki is the same and he's been hardwired to love her, and she's been genetically modded to make perfect incest babies with her onii-sama.
