We love seeing a slice of a favorite goobers but it doesn't make for compelling storytelling.

Pretty much. As much as we hate how Kazuya does nothing in Rent-a-Girlfriend for 368 chapters… it’s been running for 368 chapters precisely because it doesn’t need to go anywhere.

At least author should complete that student drama from Ch. 73 instead of pushing side stories. By the time of continuation everyone will forget why they on the verge of ending their relationship

I do get that but I'd wish the author could change their focus to some other character and keep it for a bit longer, maybe this volume is meant to be their way of checking out how much interest surges for each plotline? Tbh I wouldn't mind delving deeper into the life of Tougo's father and their relationship, if it's well done it'd be a great arc.
