And another thing, how is it possible for a whole organisation to not have a system of backups in place, especially considering they have a huge database for a chunk of clients?

Database attackers will have such an easy day with them, they might as well remove the french language pack on their magical server or whatever

I mean, MC did hand in his license to be terminated. Douchebag only threatened and not really forcing MC with any physical means. No one stopped it, not even the cooks and waiters who seems to know MC real rank...

Bruh, I guess the exile is the new girl? Also funny that none of his clansmen know how to contact him.

Realistically speaking. This guy should've been an international celebrity. The base premise makes no sense. Even if they were trying to hide his SSS status, since this wasn't a sudden climb to the top, he would've at least been known as an A ranker, a top of the top. There's quite a lot of stuff you need to disregard in terms of logic to accept the premise here.

Unless the author decides to rectify this in the future. But that's doubtful.

He doesn't confront them, but Karma kinda deals with it for him. Someone has it marked in the comments that the ex-GF is presumed deceased and the guy that she left him for was demoted and sent to a branch office. I'm assuming it's before chapter 37 as that's where their bookmark is on.

Yep. About to be raped when monster bears attack, severely wounding her (maiming her face and breaking her legs. She loses consciousness after, so I assume the bears ate her afterwards. This was after getting into a fight with her now-husband after going over-budget trying to look good for him. (Chapter 27 of the web/light novel.)

The ex was treating him like some bottom rank when he was the only sss rank? How did she not know what his rank was at this point if they had been together for years?

I‘m guessing the guild employee had something to do with this by falsifying his records and saying shit to make himself look better in front of her…thus turning her against him because none of this makes any sense otherwise.

Although, I guess it doesn’t really matter all that much based on the spoilers in some of the comments here.

It defy logic is that a guild member doesn't know the high rank in their work, and the GF being a literal idiot and doesn't check any new about him.

I guess that it has been left to me to leave an insinuating comment about how the chapter ended on a remark about him giving her cream buns as a reward.

The assumption is wrong (for obvious reasons), the ex-girlfriend is still alive thanks to MC being around with his 2nd disciple in the dungeon. The ex gets scarred from the attack and the NTR-man gets fed up with her and finally divorces her. (since she sucks at cooking and spends money to look pretty, which is his own fault because he told her to spend as much as she wants) She goes back to her parents, trying to get past her trauma and better herself. Her old friends come over (who didn't contact her after the ex ignored their warnings), consoling her and telling of their own mistakes and experiences as adventurers. Karen (1st disciple) comes to send a message from MC for plastic surgery to fix her scar. The ex goes on to become an adventurer with her old friends, an finally learns the truth about MC from them. BTW she pays back the plastic surgery from the MC, but MC doesn't want accept it (but kinda does in the end due to insistence).

I'll be honest, I pity her--not to say she's forgiven for two-timing, but the events after leaving MC is pretty sad. She was fired from her job, since she got hired through connections of MC. Her husband cheated on her during the relationship, plus he wasn't telling her the truth and gaslighting her. She tried getting a job at other places, but they wouldn't accept her cause her ex-boss said she won't work in any of her allies establishments, leading her to become an adventurer.

She's been babied by the MC so much that she can't survive on her own to become independent. And when she tries to be independent, she's stopped by others due to past actions. The reason why she two-timed in the first place was due to insecurity with the MC not communicationing to her as much after getting a job (which NTR-man took advantage of). She was destined an unhealthy relationship no matter the choice she made.

The MC and her after: They meet again at a school reunion (have an awkward chat), and even defends him when people speak down to him. Although, it doesn't seem she wants to get back with him due to guilt, despite signs of still having feelings for him. So she tries to get the MC together with Karen and another girl (don't remember the name, this is almost at ch 400 btw) The MC still cares about the ex, since she's technically not only his first girlfriend, but his first friend. But isn't willing to forgive her for what she did.

Btw magic stones improve INT, so adventurers are more wise and smart.

I figured this out when people questioned how she didn't know his rank and
It came to my mind that he probably did absolutely everything for her to the point of leaving her useless and completely unaware of the situation, but it's also her fault because she could have tried to find out about it if she was interested, otherwise from what you said it's a very common problem in relationships, the situation was just poorly conveyed in this first episode.

Reading this makes everything make a lot more sense in the end for why she was the way she was.

She had no frame of reference or need to take care of anything since MC took care of everything for her. I kind of figured the new boyfriend/husband had to possibly be gaslighting her about MC (if that is what he was doing) so he could get her away from him...and he succeeded, unfortunately.

As a side note about the ex: I don't exactly feel all too bad that the husband was cheating on her since she was cheating on the MC for months. I know it can suck to say that sometimes, but sometimes you just reap what you sow and she got her just desserts here. And on her future: it sounds nice she becomes an adventurer and sees the world from a different perspective, but also gets more info on MC and sees how he was in the world. I totally get, though, that he would be nice to her, but not forgive her.
