Dude Kamiya is loving the new Koichi

Right now he is the equivalent of a Goku, or Hisoka, and they are getting a power boner out of idea that they get to battle a promising challenger, he can't lil bro Koichi anynore, and see him as a disciple, he has to acknowledge him as an equal

And that takes priority over whether Koichi's current mood and means suit him or not, because Kamiya is cut from the same cloth as Yanagi

It was pretty unexpected, but I love Kamiya's reaction here. Even though he doesn't agree with Koichi's choices, he's not necessarily negating them -- after all, growth is an inconsistent and winding road.

By challenging Koichi, who would otherwise try to keep his distance, Kamiya is continuing to connect with him, and I hope it'll keep Koichi from going down a completely self-destructive path when his emotional self can no longer tolerate being suppressed.

I'm actually a huge fan of this time-skip. It would have been brutal to experience many chapters of Koichi having his soul beaten down by Yanagi, and it's also not too hard to imagine how it would have happened, since we already have taste of it through the Yamashita flashback (Yanagi's boss-turned-subordinate).

I anticipate the self-justification and internal battle Koichi will have will be much more interesting to read about, and hopefully be a bit more hopeful (though definitely angsty lol)
