What a complicated case.

Kuribayashi is so obsessed with revenge he's willing to kill innocent people and cops to get his way. I doubt this is the last we'll see of him.

I guess since Hatsune is only extended family to the lodging owners, it kind of possible they did not recognize her childhood friend.

Though it is still an unnecessary risk to have chosen a lodging where the owners could have recognized Hatsune’s lover or childhood friend.

I agree, there is a lack of direct evidence. The methods are also a bit iffy.

Had the first victim washed or even wiped his hands before dinner he would have been fine. Also imagine if he had touched his face or anywhere sensitive before the dinner, could have died then and there.
He also must have touched door knobs, car keys, phone, etc., so the poison must have been everywhere too.
Not to mention the perps had to somehow ensure the victim did not notice there is something sticking on his fingers, while there is enough of it to be lethal during the meal…

Similarly, had the second victim fell slightly differently there is a possibility he did not die (though still heavily injured), and he could have testified.

I'd assume they'd have a voice actor for her, and either the voice actor reads what shes writing as she writes it and then we just get the surprised expressions for half a second when she shows it to them, or shes pre-written half the stuff / writes while we're staring at others actions (like denials) only spending at most a second staring at her directly writing (to then have her assigned voice actor read it)

Author is not smart to create real puzzle.

I think he needs to hiatus and read more mystery novel
