Spoiler for Chain of Memories:
The game is about a lonely girl manipulating the MC's memories so he can only think about her, so I guess that resonated quite a bit with Noa. FF8 I'm not sure about, since I didn't play it, but it is the game of the series with quite an emphasis on romance as far as I know, so maybe there was some unhealthy obsessive component Noa was drawn to lol
