Honestly I think it’s a bit of a shame ichika didn’t get more involved with hina and ai, not in some sort of psycho sexual way I mean but perhaps if she tried a bit harder to put a wedge between them she could’ve made it more interesting as opposed to her immediately forgetting them and going for the subplot with much less meat on its bones between yuu and glasses girl
Overall I do kinda feel bad for Ai because even though she is the most purely malicious actor in this story I consider her the most honest, yes she constantly lied to basically everyone but as her actions and words show she was really only ever in it for herself, hina was a toy, her friends were image boosters and everyone else was a prop and while normally I and I’m sure many others would consider that to be the makings of a top tier POS I honestly can’t say I disagree with her, hina is as much of a freak as she is but actually believes they’re romancing each other or some shit, ichika as she finds out (at her lowest point) is also a huge fucking weirdo, her friends while mostly disapproving of her behavior seemingly don’t actually give that much of a shit either way and everyone else can be summed up as yuu, just looking for a scapegoat regardless of the circumstances before mostly forgetting and going back to business as usual, all of these people would probably say they’re better than her but they’re ostensibly just as shallow. Ending is pretty good for the setup, and I think it’s a nice touch for hina to be the one to close things out since ai’s not only literally dead but effectively dead to the narrative since she refuses to let them continue or go back to what was, hope yuu ditches glasses girl and lives a happier life around less freaks.
