Nothing more to add. It was a well done scanslation with passion and more Kamimura / older Manga scanslation are always a great feast for me. So thanks CoquelicotScans for your work.Bittersweet ending for this story and its publication... I thank you for scanlating rare manga like this. It's also nice to read about the history of this manga. I really appreciate people like you who actually go in-depth into this, which is pretty hard to come by these days.
The history of the manga wouldn't have been possible without the french version having a lengthy preface. More of these older releases should contain them cuz otherwise it can be very hard to find reliable info on them. Personally, what really drives me forward is being able to make a part of manga history available to a wider public <3 (which is why you'll never see me scanlate a modern release)Bittersweet ending for this story and its publication... Yes omg, I was so glad when she fucked over that pedophile and decided to follow in her mothers' footstepsShoko took everyone for a ride to the very end (actually gasped when she started sharing her Geisha plan and casted the author aside lol), that was a fun read throughout. The extra information is also appreciated like others mentioned 🙏
thanks for translating all of this, and extra thanks for the film recs! Definitely gonna pitch some of them for a friend's movie club
Yes omg it was kinda hard for me to translate at times personally. I love this genre but I'm here to see the badass girls kicking ass, I don't like all the sexual violenceThank you for translating this. It was a challenging read, and you can almost view the sense of range of at the post-war state of affairs in some of these pages. I found sections a bit over the top, and others, such as the colour pages, utterly stunning. I might not have enjoyed the extremely violent pages, but this was a challenging and fascinating read and that last page certainly is one for the memory. Look forwards to seeing future works you choose to pick it up!
Oh, you totally should read Lady Snowblood, it's pretty episodic in nature so even if it's unfinished, it doesn't matterThat was a fantastic read, thanks a lot for translating it. I've been wanting to check out Kamimura's manga after being fascinated by his illustrations, so glad I could finally get to it thanks to your efforts (was putting off Lady Snowblood cuz technically the sequel arc is unfinished and all the rest translations were also sadly dropped, afaik, so this is the only one truly complete manga of his in English, I think). Pleasantly surprised by the diversity of faces he could draw - beautiful, ugly, weird and funny, lots of facial expressions, and overall a very dynamic work (the pig chapter was top tier). Also loved the color pages. The story felt similar to something like Barefoot Gen-like postwar drama but then veered off in other directions, at times almost looking like some dark gag manga (a-la Go Nagai). It would be interesting to see what kind of stories Kamimura did himself or with other writers like Kazuo Koike. I hope you'll continue translating more from him and other sadly forgotten authors in the future.
By the way, what's the theater background you mention in the notes that Kamimura had? Not like there's much info on his life on the English wiki page unfortunately
There're online services providing virtual phone numbers with different country codes, kinda like temporary throwaway email which you can get a mail or sms on this number or email address, if that's what you need(Update: No longer doing V2 Panzer as it's impossible for me to get scans without a japanese phone number, fuck my life. I will be doing 13 Nights of Vengeful Spirits next)
Thank you for your work. I was gone a few days and when I came back the manga was finished. Nice pace.Oh, you totally should read Lady Snowblood, it's pretty episodic in nature so even if it's unfinished, it doesn't matter
