To say that she pushed Maria out for a more exciting adventure is an outright lie, in fact, it’s the opposite

“It was sure fun to watch at first,
how you both felt bad for each other and how you would inevitably fail to solve this dilemma.
But I’m done,
looks like I grew more attached to Maria than I thought.”

So, yeah, go reread the story and take your time with it, a lot things end up being lost if you try to cram the entire story in your head

Lastiara is such a freak that hanging out with the fire demon boss monster has become mundane in comparison.

problem here is MC was doing fine with her as he slowed the pace to train her and while also thinking about the sidequest of the fire demon boss (that being the strongest being alive we have seen so far got sent to the shadows in the story), Lastaria doesn't know he learned from his mistakes with the ex-saint losing her arm against the level boss, so the MC wouldn't put Maria into a life threating problem.

While Lastaria the moment she got in his group started to want to go further which put Maria on blast as she couldn't get strong fast enough as them and know she learned magic that takes life force to use thanks to Lastaria's "helping". Saying she did it for Maria is just her self satisfaction because she hasn't stopped a single fight with the knights that has been bothering the MC, she wanted more attention from him (as most of the wacko girls he has encountered, the sis is gonna have a harsh time with so much potential "yanderes" around him)
