I can think of a few reasons not to blindly trust that notebook blindly, but certainly could've kept it to investigate...

Even a list of names to use with his ability would be useful. Slave girl is gonna kill him if she finds out.

I know it’s his character, like “if I have to spell it out for u then u aren’t good enough“ kind of mentality but like that’s the very point of humanity’s greatest invention called “language“, it was made to share and accumulate knowledge, so that we can advance our technologies, so that we don’t have to find out why the sun won’t crash and what can we use it for, it makes sense character wise but it just irked me a bit, and he shouldn’t be so easily giving up on the recipe that could help him cure someone.

her name was Hermes, she could possibly be the father of alchemy, altho not confirmed, I do wanna see how she reacted with this mindset😂😂
