That's one of the reasons why many dictators, regardless how much they wreck the economy, could remain in power for decades. For example, Putin, leading a very corrupt kleptocracy that treated their soldiers like shit, could stay in power because he holds control over the means of violence while at the same time doles out money to his supporters.

Similarly in poor countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe, Chavez/Maduro and Mugabe destroyed the economy while enriching their cronies and maintain the loyalty of their thugs to stay in power.

If there is someone who dissaprove with goverments, others would attack them with threats or called them disloyal to country or call them terrorist.
