Seriously, corrupt states regardless whether they are developing or developed ones, are actually quite robust, especially if they have loyal armed forces/police/intelligence willing to support the government and at the same time, they face no external threat that could threaten their hold of power. That's one of the reasons why many dictators, regardless how much they wreck the economy, could remain in power for decades. For example, Putin, leading a very corrupt kleptocracy that treated their soldiers like shit, could stay in power because he holds control over the means of violence while at the same time doles out money to his supporters.

Similarly in poor countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe, Chavez/Maduro and Mugabe destroyed the economy while enriching their cronies and maintain the loyalty of their thugs to stay in power.

Or media, they use media to makes goverments look good.
If there is someone who dissaprove with goverments, others would attack them with threats or called them disloyal to country or call them terrorist.
And make the people poor, so they have crab mentality, which no one protest to government. 🤔
