How many more weeks of backstory that have absolutely no impact on the actual story?

So what I’m getting here is that the manga has its problems, but the author is cooking to make them palatable. I’m fine with that.

Wonder if the thing Lemon said about hurting the person that matter to her clicked to Natsumi when she discovered that Lemon and MC used to date

...probably not.
Bless her, but Kogahara is kind of slow, so probably not.

Flashbacks are as bad as dream sequences. They always feel like a waste of time.

This was such a good chapter. Lemon’s been having a hard time explaining her own actions to herself, but also us, the readers. I feel like I understand her better. And it’s so rare to see time devoted to the Lemon-Kogahara friendship.

Kogahara is so genuinely kind. You can see why Sunao would treasure her after his middle school experience with Lemon.

I thought the goal was more to not make de readers riot when Lemon wins hahaha
in the end we knew from the start the cheating was a lie, but the problem is that the MC ended with PTSD from that shitty lie
*self inflicted pretended PTSD

Edit: tbf it's pretended self-diagnosticated self inflicted PTSD

Alright comment section how are we gonna twist this chapter to shit on Lemon this time
This chapter was good, I'm feeling like Lemon's side of the story can make sense, the side that doesn't really feel like it make's sense is Sunao's. I still don't think the way the story was presented was good enough.

It's funny cause on Harapeko I'm on the side that's completely taken aback by the amount of backlash the female lead gets, and I don't think finding out more about her daughter's father is that important to the plot.

However in this case, I do think that the stuff about the four timing is a lot more relevant to the plot and should've gotten more focus earlier on the story.

Also while I don't think Lemon is a bad person, I don't think Sunao's behavior in regards to her make much sense, at the start he didn't treat her like he actually saw her as the b*tch how cheated on him with 3(4?) other guys and now he supposedly gaslighted himself into believing she was a bad person cause he wanted to stop worrying/thinking about her? only to then forget everything about his gaslighting while interacting with her?

The goal was to make readers hate Lemon less since the whole hook of the manga was presenting Lemon as a bitch.
Yeah but the whole rest of the manga was already presenting her as a good person. It would honestly be more interesting if she was more selfish originally.

The answer we got was the most obvious and boring one possible. Everything in this stupid, overlong flashback could have been conveyed with 2 or 3 lines and some tears. Just exists to take up space because the actual story has nowhere to go and is spinning its wheels.

You know what happened? Author created a half backed story, likely initially wanted to paint Lemon as a bad person who changed over time. Then his manga got up in the charts and sold enough so that publisher told the author "Good Job! With situation like this we can extend the series for more volumes!". Author likely didn't have a plan for extra volumes + initial "shock" element about her "lie" was pretty bad. (Author literally could create something more feasible, like her just breaking up with him saying i don't like you anymore then no contact for 4 years and try to rekindle everything because she has gotten rid of bullying and finally can be true to herself.
Due to authors need of shock element (likely wanted peoples attention), they created this shock story plot which is hard to cultivate further without sacrificing something or changing from shounen to seinen.

So author could not connect initial chapters and ending (or at least things from chapter 59 to 65) chapters without destroying or crumbling the story quality or believability.
Author decided to retconn a bit his initial chapters and sweep the potential questions under the rug for further continuation of the series.

So HOW does this lead to magic soul transfer suddenly coming into play?

I am predicting on a random guess that they will pull the old classic anime/manga plot device of a character praying to a shrine to solve their issues, and a deity deciding to help them with a monkey's paw type wish.
Actually on pages 25 and 26 (of 59) in Chapter 1 there was a shooting star. It seems pretty obvious that Lemon was making a wish even though Sunao said that he had forgot to.

Lemon literally prays to a shooting star in chapter 1
