My current theory: the brother murdered Nakama and brought him back at the eventual cost of his own life, resulting in the curse. Maybe it’s like, “I brought him back so now he’s my property.” Of course, this could be wildly wrong — there are so many secrets between the two of them (why is Nakama toxic? why did the brother lie about his favorite foods?)
