Yes, it'd also mean the complete destruction of any basis of trust he may have ever gotten with the villagers."You understand refusing the emperor's order means treason and execution right?"
It really isn't that hard

So, beheaded?

Why wait for that? Just go in, murder everybody and bring in new settlers. Heck, make them slaves and fit them with collars so if they even think about trying to disobey they die. Solves everything!Love this series but I am really tired of this trope, that a well-meaning lord/lady got shunned by people in the territory until the lord/lady proves his/her worth.
Ascendance of a Bookworm is actually far more realistic in this regard. A town opposing the lord? Hitting a building created by the lord? Then everyone is going to be executed for showing disrespect to the lord. Therefore, the nobles' words are absolute, especially when it is backed by the Archduke's order.
Similar to Honzuki, here the new lord is magically very capable, backed by the Emperor's order, and followed by a bunch of high ranking mages that could easily destroy a city or two if they want to to boot. Yet here they are deferring to a bunch of peasants. And many other mangas are following the same stupid script.
This is why, in reality, you can have a badly ruled territory, since nobody is willing to risk their lives disobeying the lord fearing that they will be branded traitors and their lives will be forfeited. So their only option is to run away, hoping that the next door's lord is not as shitty as their current lord.

So, is this the introduction of the main wife? The one he must marry within a year?

Is there any to be had with a village that sides with some random person? That's ground for fostering a rebellion and possibly a civil war, for all we know she could be an infiltrator from another country trying to weaken it from within.Yes, it'd also mean the complete destruction of any basis of trust he may have ever gotten with the villagers.
Moving people in and keeping them productive is actually quite difficult. Unless you're willing to be a tyrant without the slightest care, you're usually better off trying to work with people than eradicating or replacing them.Is there any to be had with a village that sides with some random person? How difficult are talking about compared to a potential rebellion/civil war and again, for all we know, invasion from a hostile country.Moving people in and keeping them productive is actually quite difficult.
All I'm trying to say is that simply replacing the entire population isn't really so much better a solution than trying to work with the locals. Either way it's likely to be a lot of work for relatively little gain early on.You're clearly seeing it from the rose tinted glass of slop fantasy (which to be fair, isn't far off with this manga but whatever) where nothing ever goes wrong and being naïve and nice always works out.
