I really don't think a hammock is a good idea while in an area filled with threats. They can be comfortable but there's no good way to quickly get out of a hammock.
Also how the hell did he make marshmallows, even with a stand mixer it can be a pain in the ass, it's a battle with a hand mixer, and I legitimately don't think it's possible with a whisk. I don't care how roided out the guy with the whisk was, it would grind his wrist to dust. That's not to even mention that with this settings level of development they shouldn't even have wire whisks for a couple hundred more years. They should still be using dried reeds/twigs bound with string, or a wooden whisk (I don't know much about those). I don't think making marshmallows with a reed whisk is possible it's just to stiff, the reeds wouldn't survive. This had better not give me any of this "it was magic/spirits, I ain't gotta explain shit" bullshit.
For anyone that doesn't know how marshmallows are made this is a good video.
Also you can substitute the light corn syrup with maple syrup (the real shit) if you want to avoid corn syrups or if you're canadian. if you are canadian I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you get better soon.

Unless it is HUGE and is high up in the trees where the predators can't reach them.. but that is EXTREMELY unlikely. SO yes i agree with you. there are alternates to the hammock if one refuses to sleep on the ground. this might work instead?

I believe the idea here is that it was made from the hide of a strong magical creature, which serves as a repellant for lesser creatures. At least, that's what I got from them specifically mentioning the type of lizard the hammocks were made from.

I get where you're coming from, but I rather enjoy the clash between "common sense"'s of different origins.
The concept is fine, the execution is lacking and tired. Rare materials and whatnot would be ok to balk at, but being all shocked and frustrated over seeing a new kind of camping bedding is dumb. Like, it's just a new form of a regular old thing, not inherently outstanding in any way. If it looks silly compared to what they're familiar with, then make fun of it and that'd be just fine. But seeing yet another samey shock reaction to a hammock as there were for magic swords and other actually impressive things is dumb and tiring.

"it is just a rental horse." feels rather... insulting for some reason.
Yeah. You treat a horse well it will treat you the same usually. If you're going to be riding the same horse for an extended period of time having a few treats is a good idea. I'd recommend carrots over sugar lumps, though apples are a good alternative. Cut the apple into slices first though, some horses are greedy eaters and will try to swallow an apple nearly whole.
