Self-insertion definitely ain't a bad thing, but it is a bad thing when that makes the most dislikable character be the FMC

Personally, it is kinda cringe when they make all these other characters with good personality just to nominate the one with bad personality as the winner because of self-insert reasons, like are they trying to make some kind of wish-fullfillment thing where they win even though they have a horrible personality?

On another note, I wish more mangas made the MC hot, like who doesn't like a hot dude?

honestly I can totally see that, it's so rare to see an MC with even a little bit of dignity and courage that can hold a conversation when it gets mildly flirty. It's like the author actually cares about making an MC THAT COULD ACTUALLY PULL GIRLS.
On antoher note I don't find the first girl to be too horrible but the second girl... Disrespecting his hobby in front of his friends and LITERALLY trying to shut down his hobby club? I'd honestly resent her as the MC.

I mean lets give the author some credit. Neither girl is abyssmal and even if Karen is better than then Asahi right now in most people’s opinion Karen’s win is uncertain and we aren’t sure if Asahi xan turn her personality around.

Compare this to something like Komi can’t Communicate where the best girl is Komi and the additional love interest feels worse. It feels like useless drama and padding in that story and a clunky way of moving the story forward.

Plus, frankly most male self inserts are hardly better and would ruin this chad of an MC. Bringing down both girls in the process. Plus Asahi is also tropically a tsundere who needs time to melt. Either way even if the author is truly self-inserting (which considering how tropey Asahi is seems unlikely) she rights a better story than 99% of the trash isekai or self inserts harem romcoms in manga

I think its cause of how tropey Asahi is with the typical junior teasing senior angle lacking any real differences to set her apart from others of said trope. (Which tbf to the author handles the trope fairly well here).

Plus A lot of people hate tsundere’s in their tsun phase quite understandably. Compare that to Karen and she’s an ojou-sama (best trope) combined with the model student angle and a desire to be beat.

Most model student parts are just pointless add ons typically for self insert loser MCs and waste the trope or the MC is SMARTER than said female character and the female character fights the MC to beat him. Add to that outside of self inserts FLs of that kind are uncommon. Plus, it’s interesting seeing this guy be groomed by her to be the perfect rivals while MC both plays into her but isn’t fully dominated by her actions while neither is she by him.

Plus, most people seem to think she’s hotter which is subjective really. Though yeah being an ojou-sama she still needs to get her humbling. Whatever happens though as long as the manga remains interesting I’ll remain

Yeah I fully agree, this is certainly entertaining, however I wouldn't take that shit from the council president if I was him lmao, I am sure we are gonna get some character development. "We are gonna shut down your club unless you do X" is a popular manga trope too, but used way more selfish and viciously here imo. But yeah, always having one sided flirting really sucks and I am glad this isn't one of those stories, the MC "getting back at her" in a flirty way at her at the end of the girls shenanigans is really satisfying. This is definetly better than the 90% loser slop that we have to fight through usually, I am for sure going to keep reading.

100% agree aswell. If you couldn’t tell I have a blatant soft spot for Ojou samas, but irl that shit would fucking piss anyone off and MC handled things pretty well considering she just showed up and started trashing his crib despite the bet being ongoing.

only reason I don’t feel like skinning her alive in the comments is that by the nature of tropes…she’ll learn a thing or two in upcoming chapters…same with Asahi and her tsundere brat behavior.
